God's Covenant and The Rainbow

Today when I was driving to work I saw a rainbow. It is fair to say I had been feeling a bit hopeless about things, and although feelings of hopelessness never last long with me, especially as I like to worship, pray or hang onto God in those moments, it was something I noticed. And as I was looking at it I thought about God and that it was like hope at the end of the rainbow.


I had forgotten or never really grasped the significance of the raimbow and certainly couldn't remember that it was in the Bible. And yet this evening just as I sat down, I found myself listening to a documentary about God's promise and convenant but specifically how He showed that convenant via a rainbow.

Genesis 9:12-13 (NIV)

^"12And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: ¹³ I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth...." 

Thank you Father for these moments of grace that when we lose heart, You, who are the reason for all hope, always keep your covenant with us.
